A very rare sterling silver Dunhill table lighter with clock made in Switzerland. This classic lift arm lighter model was introduced by Dunhill in 1928, and first appeared in their catalog in 1929. This particular model was known as the "Club", and was designed to remain in the home, either on a desk or on a mantle. The particular design to this is one of the more attractive made with a broad and narrow stripe engraved through the silver body and base. The condition of which is superb throughout showing no dents or damage.
The lighter has an eight day, Swiss made, manual wind clock movement set into the body which is wound and set via the door on the rear of the body (the original setting key and winder are present).
The dial is original and unrestored, having a center section that is polished silver, framed with a mate finished border where the large exploding Arabic numerals are enamel painted onto the dial. Sadly, the area where "Dunhill" was stamped has corroded slightly and half of the signature is gone. The same can be said for just above the six o'clock marker where the piece where the "8 Days" stamp is located, much of this has now disappeared. The blued steel church style hands are also present, and show well against the silver dial.
The lighter is stamped "Sterling" across the top of the lighter just under the lift arm area. The base of the lighter has the patent numbers for this design for the three main countries they were exported to: England, America, Canada. These lighters are very rare, and to find an example in such superb original condition make for a wonderful addition to any collection.
