A Dunhill Charleston “Giant” Table Lighter with Clock. The Charleston Collections were created by Alfred Dunhill in 1995 in celebration of some of the innovative products that Alfred Dunhill, the company's founder, created in the 1920's. The rare blend of creative flair and practical common sense which he brought to product design during this exciting period has become the hallmark of all the products that bear his name. The Giant Table Lighter with Watch is an exact reproduction of a piece that was first sold by Alfred Dunhill in 1929.  The originals are extremely rare with only a few 'Giant' Clocks ever found, it is believed that they were never mass-produced. The application of clocks followed two main directions: one derived from the 'Club' Clock (1933 catalogue), and the other from the standard watch lighter with an opening front panel. All 'Giant' Clock lighters are extremely rare and are in high demand by collectors. The Giant Clock appeared in catalogues in 1931 and 1933. 

The watch on today's version is equipped with a quartz movement of the highest quality complete with alarm. Each lighter case is hand-finished in solid brass with a distinctive diamond-cut engine-turned design. It is then plated in either 10 microns of silver or 4 microns of 23.5CT gold. As with the original, each lighter uses petrol as its fuel. 

The Charleston Giant Table lighter is one of only 200 produced. With this being engraved with serial number: 197/200.  It is complete with all its original paperwork, including the unique hand signed paperwork from Dunhill. Outer card box and inner leather double door inner box.  The condition of the lighter is brand new, which is quite remarkable for a piece like this that is now close to turning thirty years old.
